An alliance of electric vehicle associations from member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) has expressed its support for the 10-member bloc’s plan to develop the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the region.
In a statement released on Monday, the Asean Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (Afeva) announced its full support for the “Declaration on Developing the Regional Electric Vehicle Ecosystem” issued by Asean leaders.
Afeva recognizes the significant role that EVs play in promoting clean and efficient transportation solutions.
“By endorsing the Asean leaders’ declaration, Afeva aims to strengthen collaboration among Asean nations in developing a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem that fosters innovation, investment, and sustainable growth,” stated the federation.
The Asean declaration, adopted last May, is a policy measure that formalizes the commitment of member countries to develop a regional EV ecosystem. It also promotes the harmonization of regional standards for the EV ecosystem, as well as training and certification based on international standards.
“As an active participant in promoting electric mobility across Asean, Afeva is committed to supporting the implementation of the Asean leaders’ declaration,” added the federation.
“Through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and advocacy efforts, Afeva aims to contribute to the development of a thriving electric vehicle ecosystem that addresses the region’s environmental challenges and enhances its global competitiveness,” it further stated.
