Atelier Ryza series achieves a remarkable two million shipments

Koei Tecmo, the publisher, and Gust, the developer, have recently reached a significant milestone with their popular game series, Atelier Ryza. The three games in the series, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, and Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, have now surpassed the impressive mark of two million units shipped.

This comes as an update following the previous report on March 17, which revealed that the series had shipped 1.6 million units. This means that within a short period, amidst stiff competition from highly popular games like Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Street Fighter VI, and Diablo IV, the Atelier Ryza series managed to sell an additional 400,000 units. This is an extraordinary accomplishment in itself.

To commemorate this success, Koei Tecmo has decided to offer some special rewards, but unfortunately, these goodies are only available to fans living in Japan. Nonetheless, it’s a gesture of gratitude towards the fans.

For those who are new to the Atelier series, it may come as a surprise that this RPG franchise has been around since 1997, even predating popular titles like Metal Gear Solid. Originally starting on Sony consoles, the series has gradually expanded to various other platforms. The Ryza games within the series revolve around the character Reisalin “Ryza” Stout, an adventurous alchemist who embarks on a journey to discover new recipes and enhance her knowledge.

The latest three games in the series can be played on PS5, Xbox X|S, Switch, and Steam. Given its continued success, Atelier Ryza shows no signs of slowing down, especially with the upcoming release of an anime TV adaptation in the summer of 2023.
