Bread actress Jean Boht dies aged 91 just one month after her husband’s death | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Jean Boht has died aged 91 after being beloved by TV fans for her starring role in Bread.

The actress, who famously portrayed Nellie Boswell in the hit sitcom, died on Tuesday, September 12, after suffering from vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. 

The sad news comes just one month after Jean’s husband Carl Davis’ death.

The couple shared two adult children, daughters Hannah Davis and Jessie Jo Davis.

“It is with overwhelming sadness that we must announce that Jean Boht passed away yesterday,” said a statement written by Jean’s grieving family.

At the time of her death, the legendary actress was living at Denville Hall, a care home for actors and other members of the entertainment industry.

Jean had been married to composer Carl, who was best known for writing Pride and Prejudice’s soundtrack, for 43 years prior to his death. 

The star won the British Comedy Award for best TV comedy actress for her role in Carla Lane’s show Bread.

Alongside her success as part of the cast of Bread, Jean also starred in Doctors, Holby City, Skins and The Bill.
