On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was hosted by US Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington DC. During the luncheon, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed how India has become an integral part of their daily lives. He specifically mentioned their love for Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, who recently became the first Punjabi artist to perform at the renowned US music festival, Coachella. Blinken also highlighted their admiration for Indian author Jhumpa Lahiri’s novels, their enjoyment of samosas (a popular Indian snack), and their appreciation for Mindy Kaling’s comedy.

Antony Blinken’s Comment on Diljit Dosanjh

Antony Blinken stated, “Here in the US, India is a part of our daily lives. We enjoy reading Jhumpa Lahiri’s novels while savoring samosas. We find Mindy Kaling’s comedies hilarious. We even dance to Diljit’s beats at Coachella. And I can say this from personal experience, Mr. Prime Minister, practicing yoga helps us maintain good health and fitness. The United States greatly benefits from the thriving Indian diaspora, which includes doctors, teachers, engineers, business leaders, and public servants. Many of them were present at the White House lawns yesterday to welcome you.”

Diljit Dosanjh’s Reaction

Shortly after Blinken’s remarks, Diljit shared a video clip of his speech on Twitter, along with the Indian and American flags. He did not provide a caption for the post.

What’s Next for Diljit?

Diljit Dosanjh is now gearing up for the release of his Netflix film, “Chamkila,” directed by Imtiaz Ali.
