Mike Bushell, 55, has led tributes to his former colleague Dominic Busby, who has died after a short illness aged 53. The presenter’s death was announced on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning by Shourjo Sarkar, who said his thoughts were with Dom’s family.

Many of the late broadcaster’s friends and colleague have flocked to social media to send their condolences.

Taking to Twitter, Mike wrote: “Such heart breaking news about our wonderful friend/colleague #dombusby.

“I first worked with Dom at @BBCRadioSolent in 90s, we were like two cheeky schoolboys.

“The most natural broadcaster with warm voice and fantastic energy and sense of humour. Always in my heart Dom.”

Fans flocked to his post to welcome him back, as one penned: “Good to see you smiling behind a mic again – it suits you.”

A second added: “Ahhhh! Glad you’re feeling better!”

Just days before, the presenter shared a picture of himself receiving a Covid jab and encouraged others to do the same.

He commented: “Well it didn’t hurt, now we just wait 15 mins and if you’re ok it’s off home.
