Elden Ring Release Date, Gameplay Trailer Revealed

0

After a two-year-long absence, Elden Ring has received a new trailer at Summer Game Fest today. Plus a release date has been set for January 21, 2022

The long-awaited trailer is full of familiar elements for fans of From Software’s Souls series. Large, even colossal, enemies, a dark fantasy world, and spirits from other worlds that could potentially aid (or harm) the player.

There are some firsts in the Elden Ring trailer such as mounts as the player is seen traversing through the world on a flying horse. It’s clear from the trailer that Elden Ring is bigger than any Souls game From Software has made before it, and as the mystery of the Elden Ring will likely confound players long after release, we can at least marvel at the scale Elden Ring is operating on.

Elden Ring was first announced at E3 2019 as FromSoftware’s next project, with direction from Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and worldbuilding by A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) author George R.R. Martin. Since then, rumors and speculation about the game have been off the charts, with enthusiasm to the point of FromSoftware feeling the need to acknowledge how thirsty everyone was for new info.

Summer Game Fest comes just ahead of E3 2021 this week, which will include games showcases from Xbox, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Nintendo, Devolver Digital, and more. E3 2021 and surrounding events are also making up IGN’s Summer of Gaming (not to be confused with Summer Game Fest), which will include even more games announcements this week and after.

If you’re enjoying Summer Game Fest, make sure to check out the E3 2021 schedule and everything else planned for IGN’s Summer of Gaming.
