Experts Suggests Yoga Asanas To Increase Platelet Count

Platelets are required for blood clotting in the body.

The expert also said that Pranayama plays a vital role in maintaining platelet count.

Over the last few years, yoga has emerged as a therapy and the primary way to treat various health conditions. Experts reveal the potential benefits of yoga in increasing platelet count. With dengue cases increasing day by day, it has become crucial to ensure that the platelet count of your body is sufficient. While traditional medical interventions are always the option to manage health issues, incorporating yoga into your daily routine may improve the overall well-being of your body.

Various factors result in low platelet counts including autoimmune disorders, infections, or medications. Platelets are required for blood clotting in the body and a decrease in their count can increase the risk of bleeding. Those dealing with a problem related to platelets are required to do yoga daily as it can contribute positively.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, Founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, said, “Certain yoga asanas can be particularly beneficial for individuals with thrombocytopenia. However, it’s crucial to approach these poses with caution and under the guidance of a qualified instructor. Gentle poses that don’t exert excessive pressure on the body, such as Sukhasana (Easy Pose) or Balasana (Child’s Pose), can be incorporated to enhance flexibility and reduce tension.”

He also shared that Pranayama also plays a vital role in maintaining platelet count. Additionally, Anulom Vilom can also contribute to balancing energy channels, thereby promoting overall well-being. These yogas can aid blood circulation and those with low platelet counts.

While Yoga is not a standalone treatment to increase platelet count, it can boost the count when combined with conventional medical approaches. Individuals need to ensure that their medicinal treatments and yoga practices align with their overall plan.

Before proceeding with any yoga activity, it is advisable to consult with healthcare professionals. This is because it will prevent you from attracting any unwanted health issues while ensuring a collaborative and informed approach to overall health and healing.
