Hideo Kojima Aims to Develop “An Extraterrestrial Gaming Experience”

Hideo Kojima, the brilliant mind behind games like Metal Gear and Death Stranding, has expressed his desire to create a game that can be played in space.

During an interview at the premiere of the documentary Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds in New York City (via Stephen Totilo), Kojima was asked about his future aspirations.

“I want to go to outer space and create a game you can play there… So please, someone, send me up to space,” he said.

In addition to discussing his space ambitions, Kojima also shared his thoughts on artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential dangers.

“If AI doesn’t follow my orders, I’ll simply cut off the battery,” he joked. “AI will inevitably become part of our lives, so it’s not a matter of avoiding its use.”

The documentary Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival and offers a unique look into the creative process of the legendary game designer.

“Regarded as the first auteur of video games, this visually captivating documentary provides a rare glimpse into Hideo Kojima’s creative process as he launches his independent studio,” according to the trailer description.
