IndyCar veteran Marco Andretti has survived a scary road accident just a few days out from his 18th start in the Indianapolis 500.
Andretti reportedly crashed his Lamborghini Urus while trying to avoid another car on the road on the outskirts of Indianapolis.
The third-generation racer took to social media to confirm he was unharmed.

“Already getting texts: All is fine,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Avoided a huge head-on crash as someone turned right across us on 16th street.
“I reacted and took the path of least resistance. Everyone is okay.”
Andretti is the grandson of Formula 1 champion Mario and the son of IndyCar champion Michael.
The 36-year-old will start Monday’s race from 24th on the grid on the outside of row eight.
His teammate Kyle Kirkwood was the best of the Andretti Autosport entries in 15th ahead of Romain Grosjean in 19th, Colton Herta in 21st, and Devlin DeFrancesco in 26th.
Andretti will take to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday at 1am for the final practice, dubbed ‘Carb Day’.
The final hitout before the race offers teams a chance to dial their cars into race set-ups after qualifying earlier in the week.
Andretti famously led the Indianapolis 500 on debut in 2006 for his father’s eponymous team, but was passed on the last lap by Sam Hornish Jr.
The IndyCar Series veteran has not been able to win the Indianapolis 500 since but took pole position for the race in 2020 before going on to finish 13th.
Andretti has finished inside the top three on four occasions.
The 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 gets underway on Monday, May 29 at 1am (AEST) with coverage live, ad-free, and exclusively on Stan Sport.
