Introducing Twitter’s new Instagram-like feature: A comprehensive guide on what it is and how to use it

Elon Musk has revolutionized Twitter since completing the acquisition, transforming it from a micro-blogging platform to a dynamic social media website. The platform now supports monetizing content, long-form videos, and text, among other features. The latest addition to Twitter’s ever-growing feature list is the Highlights feature.

Recently, Musk retweeted a thread by a Twitter handle called DogeDesigner, announcing the launch of the Highlights Tab on Twitter. This feature allows users to showcase their favorite tweets on their profiles.

What is the Highlights feature?

The Highlights feature enables users to display their favorite tweets in a separate tab. To put it into perspective, you can compare it to Instagram’s Highlights feature.

On Instagram, users can add Stories to their Highlights so that their followers can revisit them at a later time. Normally, Stories disappear after 24 hours. Instagram also allows users to group Stories into different Highlights. For instance, someone can create a Highlight for their travel-related Stories and another Highlight for their food-related Stories. The key difference between Instagram Highlights and Twitter Highlights is that the latter allows users to publish tweets in their Highlights.

Highlights for creators and brands

The Highlights feature appears to be primarily aimed at content creators, making it “a massive win for creators and brands,” according to the DogeDesigner handle. Although there is no official confirmation, it seems that the Highlights feature is currently available on iPhones and the web. Additionally, it appears to be exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers. As mentioned by one user in the thread, “Glad they are adding more features exclusively for Blue to make it worth the money.”

This news comes as Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, met with investors to highlight the company’s plans for business revamp. Twitter aims to attract more creators and launch a video app for smart TVs.
