Jesse Lingard ‘upset’ and makes promise to Man Utd fans after costly mistake vs Young Boys | Football | Sport
Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has apologised to fans after his mistake against FC Young Boys on Tuesday night. The Red Devils went into their Champions League game expected to take all three points. But that didn’t happen, with the club losing 2-1 on the night.
Manchester United went into the match on Tuesday on a high after beating Newcastle 4-0 on Saturday, with Lingard netting in that victory.
However, they were brought crashing back down to earth by losing 2-1 against Young Boys in Switzerland.
Cristiano Ronaldo put United ahead early on, with the veteran notching after a sublime pass from compatriot Bruno Fernandes.
But Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card changed the game and, in the end, United buckled under the pressure as they slumped to defeat.
In the closing stages, Lingard misplaced a pass that allowed the hosts to score a dramatic late winner.
And he’s now taken to social media to apologise for his mistake.
