Josephine Chaplin, the daughter of renowned actor Charlie Chaplin, has sadly passed away at the age of 74. Her family announced her death, which occurred on July 13 in Paris. She leaves behind three sons—Julein Ronet, Charlie, and Arthur.
Josephine Chaplin gained recognition for her exceptional performance in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film, The Canterbury Tales. She portrayed the role of an adulterous wife in the movie. In 1972, she starred alongside Laurence Harvey in Escape to the Sun, a drama directed by Menahem Golan. The story revolves around a group of people attempting to escape from the Soviet Union.
Chaplin later appeared in the crime-thriller Shadowman, alongside Gayle Hunnicutt and Jacques Champreux. The film follows a criminal’s quest to find the treasures of the Knights Templar. She also featured in the French mini-series The Man Without a Face, based on Shadowman. After the success of the series, she went on to act in numerous films such as Nutis Rouges, The Peaks of Zelengora, Jack the Ripper, The Bay Boy, and Downtown Heat, among others.
Turning to her personal life, Chaplin was first married to French actor Maurice Ronet, with whom she had a son named Julein Ronet. After Ronet passed away, she entered into a relationship with Nicholas Sistovaris and had a son named Charly. In 1989, she married French archaeologist Jean-Claude Gardin, and together they had a son named Arthur.
