Stranger Things has made a major casting announcement for its highly anticipated final season. Linda Hamilton, renowned for her portrayal of Sarah Connor in The Terminator series, including Terminator 2 and Terminator: Dark Fate, will be joining the ensemble for Season 5. This exciting news was revealed during the Tudum livestream event today.
In a tweet shared by Netflix, it was officially confirmed that Linda Hamilton is joining the cast of Stranger Things 5!

This is a remarkable addition to the Stranger Things roster, as the show has previously recruited notable actors from the ’80s era. The likes of Winona Ryder, who plays Joyce Byers, have been part of the central cast. In addition, the series has featured talents such as Matthew Modine of Full Metal Jacket fame, Robert Englund, known for his portrayal of Freddy Krueger, breakout star Sean Astin from The Goonies, Cary Elwes from The Princess Bride, and Paul Reiser of Mad About You.
Considering that Stranger Things is progressing into the ’90s in its storyline, the inclusion of Linda Hamilton, who rose to action icon status in James Cameron’s 1991 classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day, is a logical and exciting choice. Moreover, with Season 4 concluding with a major setup for a showdown with Vecna, the Hawkins crew is definitely in need of some muscle.
This casting announcement was the highlight of Stranger Things’ appearance at Tudum, as no Season 5 footage was available to showcase at this time. According to showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer, production was initially scheduled to commence this month, but due to the ongoing writers’ strike, filming has been postponed.
Hamilton’s involvement in Season 5 is the most significant update thus far. Previously, The Duffer Brothers revealed that Season 5 will serve as a thematic culmination of all the previous seasons, incorporating elements from the past while also revealing the title of the first episode.
