Matthew Pavlich named on panel to conduct Carlton’s external review, Mark LoGiudice says David Teague safe

Fremantle legend Matthew Pavlich is one of a three-man panel that will conduct the external review of Carlton’s football department.

Pavlich will be joined by former Collingwood football boss Geoff Walsh and ex-Bulldogs football boss Graham Lowe on the panel, which was selected by incoming Carlton boss Luke Sayers.

“In what is an important process, the experienced panel members will be afforded the time required to conduct the extensive review and as such there will not be an ongoing commentary of the review,” current Carlton president Mark LoGiudice wrote in an open letter to members.

“The panel will provide the necessary recommendations to the Board, to take the football department forward.

“We understand our members and supporters expect more from an on-field performance perspective. As a club, we are fully aware that we exist to win games of football and ultimately win premierships.

“You, together with all our members and supporters can rest assured we remain committed to improve our on-field performance, while also ensuring this football club continues to be relentless in its pursuit of excellence and success.

“That is why we have embarked on this mid-season independent football review. History will show you that in challenging times, the best clubs stay united and supportive.”

Despite many believing that Carlton coach David Teague was on the hot-seat would be the focus of the impending review, LoGiudice stressed that the review was not one of the coaching position.

“I want to be very categoric here, this is not a review of the coach, this is a review of the football department,” LoGiudice told the Herald Sun.

“Everyone is making this out to be about David Teague, that it’s a panic, believe me we are very calm and measured about the way this is going to get done.

“David Teague has coached 39 games, he is the coach and he is contracted for next year.”

“We are not in denial, we’ve got to do what’s in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club at all times. There’s no panic here, I promise you.”
