Maya Bank Operator Sets Sights on $150 Million in Fresh Capitalization

Voyager Innovations, the digital arm of PLDT Inc., which operates Maya Bank, plans to raise up to $150 million this year in fresh funds to expand its operations and onboard more customers. The company is already in talks with potential foreign investors, and PLDT will also participate in the fund-raising activity. Voyager aims to strengthen the loan portfolio, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises. PLDT’s president said they were looking to “improve the fundamentals of the bank” by increasing deposits and loans. Maya is expected to become profitable in the next two to three years, led primarily by the enterprise segment and loan book growth. Last year, Voyager raised $210 million from new investors, and the company has 1.8 million customers with P2.1 billion in deposits. In addition, since securing a digital banking license in September 2020, the company has rebranded as an all-in-one money portal.
