Nothing Phone 2 Receives Nothing OS 2.0.2 Update; Users Complain of Poor Camera Quality: All Details

The Nothing Phone 2, launched in India in July as the successor to the Nothing Phone 1, recently received an update to its software, Nothing OS 2.0.2. This latest update brought various upgrades and security fixes, including improvements to the camera elements. However, some users have expressed dissatisfaction with the update, stating that it has diminished the quality of the camera output. The Nothing Phone 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and features a dual rear camera setup with two 50-megapixel sensors.

The Nothing OS 2.0.2 update claims to enhance contrast and bokeh features, as well as optimize face clarity in portrait mode. It also improves the speed of HDR processing and claims to enhance stability and contrast in video recordings using the rear camera.

However, users have reported contrasting experiences with the update. One user has complained about the “degraded” camera output quality after the OS 2.0.2 update, providing examples and highlighting flaws with the images taken on the Nothing Phone 2. The main issues mentioned include poor HDR performance, along with shadows and contrast problems.

Nevertheless, the user acknowledged that the Nothing team has been responsive and attentive to their complaints, suggesting that the company will address and resolve these issues in the next OS update.

Aside from the camera improvements, the Nothing OS 2.0.2 update also introduces a revamped out-of-battery visual and introduces new icons for Nothing audio products and volume controls. Additionally, the update incorporates Google’s July security patch.

The company has also worked on enhancing the haptic feedback during typing, and claims that the update improves HDR performance in certain games. Moreover, the update enhances network reliability and touch panel responsiveness under certain conditions.

Furthermore, the update resolves general bug fixes, including unresponsiveness of the ‘double tap to wake’ feature, Google Wallet functioning issues, and Bluetooth Quick Settings problems.

The Nothing Phone 2 is available in Dark Gray and White color options, with prices starting at Rs. 44,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. The 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB variants are priced at Rs. 49,999 and Rs. 54,999 respectively. The phone can be purchased through Flipkart.
