Akshay Kumar, after facing box office disappointments with his previous four films, has made a comeback with his highly anticipated satirical comedy, Oh My God 2. The film, which also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, was released on August 11, alongside Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. Although it fell behind Gadar 2 on the opening day, it had a decent start and became the eighth highest opener of 2023.
Early estimates suggest that OMG 2 collected approximately Rs 9-10 crores despite its clash with Gadar 2 at the box office. The top three multiplex chains in India collected around Rs 5.50 crores, marking OMG 2 as the eighth biggest opening for a Hindi film this year, surpassing Pathaan, Gadar 2, Adipurush, Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Bholaa, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
