Viacom18 has reported that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 championship was a major digital success with 12 crore unique viewers tuning in to watch the final match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans on JioCinema on Monday. The final set a new digital world record with a concurrency peak of 3.21 crore viewers. JioCinema has registered more than 1700 crore video views, with over 2.5 crore downloads, making it the app with the highest installs in a single day. JioCinema attracted 26 sponsors and more than 800 advertisers for the IPL, with over 40 advertisers on Connected TV. The platform registered an average time spent of more than 60 minutes per viewer per match.
According to Viacom18 Sports CEO Anil Jayaraj, “Record-breaking scale on JioCinema combined with targeting, the flexibility of cost, measurement, interactivity, reach, and integration offered significant advantages to its sponsors and advertisers.” The total customer engagement involved 17 simultaneous feeds in 12 languages, including 4K, with multi-cam views giving viewers a unique degree of autonomy and stadium-like experience via AR/VR and 360-degree viewing.
