However, this new handset will mark the end of the Osom OV1 which was an Android device that came after Essential. The company has also shared a tweet on its official Twitter account to confirm that Osom OV1 will be rebranded as a crypto/Web3 device and will be released with a new name, the Solana Saga.
As per the report, Osom has mentioned that this flagship Android smartphone with exclusive features and functions will be “tightly integrated” with the Solana blockchain. The upcoming device will also help users to securely transact in web3 and manage digital assets like — tokens and NFTs. Moreover, the founder and CEO of Osom Products Inc., Jason Keats, has also mentioned that Web3 is the future and more hardware companies need to support it to build “an ecosystem that looks to the future.”
Solana Saga: Price and availability
The upcoming smartphone is already available for pre-orders in the US, Canada and the UK. Users who are willing to own the device can deposit $100 (roughly around Rs 7,800) with the company. However, it is important to note that Osom will refund the deposits to any user who changes their mind at a later date. The full price of Solana Saga is $1000 (roughly around Rs 78,000) and users will need a Solana wallet to make the deposit. The report confirms that the smartphone will start shipping from Q1 2023.
Solana Saga: Specifications
Apart from the Web3 support, the full spec sheet of the Solana Saga has also been revealed. As per the report, the upcoming handset will sport a 6.55-inch display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate and will come powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with a 12GB RAM.
The upcoming smartphone will also house a dual rear camera setup of a 50MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The Solana Saga is expected to pack a 4,100 mAh battery unit with support for wireless charging.
