With an 8cm height advantage and 23cm reach advantage, the Australian goes into the light heavyweight title decider as the favourite.

But Akhmedov has been a force to be reckoned with in 2022, having put two opponents to sleep via knockout and submission.

Since losing to Israel Adesanya in 2018, Wilkinson has gone on a streak of five straight wins.

Wilkinson is touted as a striker while Akhmedov may look to wrestle his way to the win.

“I’m very excited for this fight,” Wilkinson told Stan Sport.

“Akhmedov is a good grappler, he’s got decent striking, but I think my boxing is going to be too strong for him and I’m going to get the knockout early.

“The title fight has got a little bit more on the line. It’s a world title, it’s a championship, so there’s a little bit more pressure, but I like that pressure.

“It pushes you to train a little bit harder every day.”

As for the $1.5 million prize, Wilkinson said he’s got a couple of ideas as to what he might do with the money should he win.

“It would mean the world to win the title,” he said.

“It’s been one of my goals for about 10 years now. The money is just a huge bonus, but it’s a very good bonus as well.

“I’m going to be looking to invest in some property or a house for me.”
