Possible revision: “Leaked Details Suggest the Pixel 8 Pro Could Sport a Flat Display”

If you’ve been intrigued by Google’s Pixel Pro lineup but were hesitant to purchase one due to its curved display, the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro might catch your attention. An article published on Saturday reveals that Google’s next flagship will feature a flat display.

Following last week’s coverage of what Google had in store for the Pixel 8 family, leakster Kamila Wojciechowska states that the Pixel 8 Pro will come with a 6.7-inch OLED panel from Samsung, boasting a resolution of 1,344 x 2,992 and a pixel density of 490 PPI. While slightly smaller than the current flagship, the Pixel 7 Pro, which offers a curved 6.71-inch display with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,120 and a pixel density of 512 PPI, the Pixel 8 Pro’s screen will shine much brighter with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits when displaying HDR content, compared to the Pixel 7 Pro’s 1,000 nits. Moreover, the 120Hz panel will ensure smoother transitions between refresh rates.

In terms of the Pixel 8, it is also set to receive an upgraded display. Interestingly, the new device will reportedly have a smaller screen than the Pixel 7. According to Android Authority, the phone will come with a 6.17-inch screen and a 1,080 x 2,400 resolution. This is the same resolution as the Pixel 7’s 6.31-inch screen, indicating a higher dot pitch on the new phone. Additionally, the screen will offer 1,400 nits of peak brightness, an improvement from its predecessor’s 1,000 nits, and a 120Hz refresh rate instead of the Pixel 7’s 90Hz. Rumors have suggested that the Pixel 7a may be the last phone in Google’s a-Series, which could explain the smaller display on the Pixel 8.

Android Authority also reports that both the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will have more rounded corners compared to Google’s current high-end phones, confirming an earlier leak from Steve Hemmerstoffer. This design change will make them easier to operate with one hand. With their upgraded displays and the larger primary camera sensor rumored for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, Google’s new phones are shaping up to be impressive. Stay tuned for more information about these devices as we approach their release later this year.
