Robert Downey Jr.’s Skillful Evasion: Witness Him Dodge a Question about Iron Man 4

Robert Downey Jr. is the driving force behind the tremendous success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise owes much of its popularity to Downey’s portrayal of Tony Stark in the groundbreaking film, Iron Man. However, with Tony Stark’s demise in Avengers: Endgame, fans are left wondering if there will ever be an Iron Man 4.

This is a question that hasn’t crossed my mind before, although I do anticipate Iron Man’s return in Avengers: Secret Wars in the coming years, according to rumors. While we await further evidence, RDJ recently responded to a question about Iron Man 4. **Please note that spoilers will follow below**.

The Iron Man trilogy could have been improved

As essential as Iron Man’s role was in the MCU’s success, the Iron Man trilogy has its flaws. The second and third installments pale in comparison to the first film, lacking the same level of excitement. Marvel would have undoubtedly given more significance to both Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 if given the chance.

However, it’s worth noting that Tony Stark’s character played a crucial part in other Marvel projects outside of the Iron Man franchise. He appeared in all the Avengers films and had substantial roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Captain America: Civil War. The latter film, in particular, is pivotal for his character development.

Iron Man truly stood out in Infinity War and Endgame. Unfortunately, his character meets his demise in the latter film, leading to doubts regarding the possibility of an Iron Man 4.

Nevertheless, since his heroic death, fans have been eagerly awaiting Iron Man’s return, especially in light of the multiverse narrative arc. With the multiverse, anything is possible, including the introduction of Iron Man variants from different realities in future films. Additionally, the Avengers could potentially retrieve Iron Man from the past to combat Kang in Secret Wars.

Having followed the MCU extensively, including the various rumors and leaks associated with the universe, I am confident that Tony Stark will make a return for one last adventure. However, it is essential to note that he will not be fully resurrected; the multiverse will play a significant role in his reappearance.

Iron Man will likely make a comeback in Avengers: Secret Wars

RDJ has yet to confirm anything, as Marvel will ultimately make the decision. However, if you were RDJ, you would inevitably field questions about Tony Stark and Iron Man in almost every interview.

During an interview with Extra TV about his new Max show, RDJ was asked about the possibility of an Iron Man 4. He cleverly avoided the question, showcasing surprise at the specificity of the inquiry. While the actor has addressed questions about reprising his Iron Man role, this particular mention of Iron Man 4 stands out in comparison to the speculation around his return in an Avengers film such as Secret Wars.
