Roger Federer claims retirement announcement didn’t go to plan after agent ‘went crazy’ | Tennis | Sport

“Apparently there were leaks happening in the morning so we scrambled to get it out a little bit earlier than we were expecting.” Earlier in the week, Federer told Swiss media that his agent ‘almost went crazy‘ because it took so long for his retirement announcement to be released, adding: “Since it’s out, I’m better.”

Federer’s decision to walk away from competitive tennis makes him the first of the ‘Big Three’ to retire. As part of team Europe he, Nadal and Novak Djokovic will be joined by Andy Murray, among others, and Federer is looking forward to teaming up with his former foes and reminiscing about their timeless battles of the past.
