Last year on this very day, Sushant Singh Rajput’s swan song – Dil Bechara streamed an online portal. The actor’s untimely death had shaken the entire nation and Dil Bechara was much awaited amidst his fans as it was his last film and the climax of the movie gives goosebumps to every SSR well-wisher.
Today as the film completes a year, E Times exclusively spoke to Sanjana Sanghi. The young actress who featured in films like Rockstar and Hindi Medium, finally got her lead-role break with Dil Bechara. The film was an official adaptation of Fault In Our Stars, and the actress was super happy to work with Sushant for this one. Today in the interview she recollects the time she broke the ice with the actor.
She remembers the first time they met at Mukesh Chhabra’s office (film’s director) for a reading and she says within 5 minutes they got talking and realized both are nerds, both love everything related to academics and both love food. She continues, “The other common point of interest was Delhi. While I hailed from Delhi, he had studied there. The performances you see in the film are all because of teamwork as it’s a completely performance-oriented movie. It didn’t boast of any fancy song sequences or stunts, but relied on human emotions and relationships.”
Sanjana Sanghi also remembers that one advice that Sushant gave him as an actor that has stayed back with this talented diva and will help her in her near future, “The one thing Sushant taught me was to save my energy. He made me realise how important it was to conserve energy by not putting in all of it when not required, for instance, the wide-angle shots. He used to call it ‘rationing’ of energy.”
Well, we lost an artiste too soon but we are glad that in such a small time he left us with so many amazing performances and films to remember and talk about.
Meanwhile Sanjana Sanghi will be next seen in Om opposite Aditya Roy Kapur. The film is said to be an action-drama and the actress is super excited about this one.
