In the 2022 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, a teaser hinted at the release of a new South Park game. Fans naturally assumed it would be the next installment in the beloved South Park RPG series. However, it seems that won’t be the case.
The 2023 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase unveiled South Park: Snow Day. In this game, players will battle through snow-covered streets of South Park with up to three friends. One of the standout features is that South Park will now be presented in 3D, although I’m uncertain if that’s a positive change.

Although South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: Fractured but Whole didn’t appeal to everyone, I could understand and appreciate their intentions. They aimed to create a humorous adventure set in the South Park universe for fans of the show. Besides, there’s a certain charm to the 2D graphics, and honestly, the transition to 3D looks somewhat awkward.
In fact, the trailer strongly reminded me of the South Park game on N64. Of course, with updated visuals, but it retained the same quirky 3D graphics and gameplay.
No specific details about the game were provided other than the 3D presentation and the inclusion of co-op multiplayer. Personally, it gives me vibes similar to Fat Princess, but it’s difficult to make a definitive judgment until we have more information.
South Park: Snow Day is scheduled to release in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
