South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Brisbane Broncos start time, results, news for Round five

Brisbane Broncos legend and current board member Darren Lockyer has revealed the club is planning to head to market with the intent to lure a “key player” to Red Hill.

Speaking on Wide World of Sports’ QLDER, Lockyer explained the Broncos were in a process of stockpiling funds with the intention of hitting the market to revitalise their roster.

“At the moment it’s been about putting money to the side to go to market, we haven’t been in that position for a few years,” Lockyer told QLDER.

“At the moment we’re decided that we probably do need to go to market to get a player. We just need to get our cap in position so that we can go to market and bring that player.

“If you’re going to bring a key player into your team, it’s often someone in the spine.

“We haven’t identified who that is or what position that is. But right now it’s about putting some money aside and getting ready for that.”

Those reports will also add extra weight to Thursday night’s clash between the two clubs.

It is understood the Broncos haven’t approached Reynolds’ manager Steve Gillis about making the move north and are yet to make a formal contract offer.
