The Flash’s Andy Muschietti Takes on Directorship for The Brave and The Bold

Batman: The Brave and the Bold has secured the talented director Andy Muschietti, known for his work on The Flash, according to a report by Variety.

In a statement to Variety, DCU co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran expressed their confidence in Muschietti’s abilities, stating, “We saw The Flash; even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan. It’s a magnificent film – funny, emotional, thrilling – and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame. So, when it came time to find a director for ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ there was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes. Barbara [Muschietti] signed on to produce with us and we were on our way. They’re an extraordinary team, and we couldn’t have better or more inspiring partners as we embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DCU.”

Astonishingly, THR also reported that the Muschietti duo has signed first-look deals with Warner Bros., solidifying their relationship with the studio.

The appointment of Andy Muschietti as the director for Batman: The Brave and the Bold comes as no surprise, as rumors had been circulating for weeks about his involvement with the project, as reported by OneTakeNews.

This news coincides with the release of Muschietti’s highly anticipated film, The Flash, which marks a new chapter for DCU under the stewardship of Gunn and Safran. The announcement of Batman: The Brave and the Bold was made in January when Gunn and Safran unveiled their revamped DCU.

Based on Grant Morrison’s comic series, The Brave and the Bold revolves around Bruce Wayne’s biological son Damian, who was raised in secret to become a skilled assassin.

“He’s a little son of a bitch. He’s my favorite Robin,” Gunn previously stated about the character.

This is only the second confirmed director appointment for the new movies introduced in January. The first was James Gunn himself, who is both writing and directing Superman: Legacy, the inaugural installment of the Gods and Monsters series. James Mangold, known for his work on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, has confirmed that he is writing Swamp Thing and is rumored to direct the film.

Prior to his involvement with The Flash, Andy Muschietti gained recognition for his directorial work on It and It: Chapter Two. Both Muschiettis are currently working as producers on the It spinoff Welcome to Derry for Max.
