The Union Government has issued a directive to public servants in states to adopt the PM Gati Shakti approach for the planning of modern infrastructure, particularly in districts. This approach and its utilization were the topics of discussion in a recent web-based seminar organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on August 4.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Secretary of DPIIT, emphasized the importance for administrators and public servants to comprehend the concept and benefits of the PM Gati Shakti approach in the development of world-class infrastructure for the nation.

More than 250 participants, including senior officers from 27 Central Training Institutes (CTIs) and approximately 34 State Administrative Training Institutes (ATIs), took part in the webinar.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas previously took 6-9 months to complete 46 reports through its Detail Route Survey. However, with the implementation of the NMP’s electronic Detailed Route Survey (eDRS), these reports can now be generated in a matter of hours, streamlining the process.

It was also revealed that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was able to reduce the overall length of 42 km for the planned alignments of 5 pipelines under the North-East Gas Grid (NEGG), resulting in a cost saving of Rs 169 crore.

The PM Gati Shakti – National Master Plan (NMP) for multi-modal connectivity is a digital platform that aims to facilitate integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects throughout the country.
