72-Year-Old Crashes Car Into Multiple Bikes At Intersection In Maharashtra, 3 Dead | Video

A car driven by a 72-year-old man collided with four bikes before crashing into a parked vehicle at Cyber Chowk in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur city on Monday.

The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including the elderly driver, while six others sustained injuries.

The incident, captured on CCTV camera, shows the harrowing accident as the Hyundai Santro speeds through the intersection without any traffic lights, crashing into the bikers.

The car was reportedly being driven by Vasant M Chavan, the retired Pro Vice-Chancellor of Shivaji University Kolhapur.

The footage shows three bikes moving straight ahead, while a fourth was crossing from right to left. At 2:26 pm, the Hyundai Santro collided with the two-wheelers, hurling the riders and passengers several feet away. The car crashed into a pole next to the footpath before colliding with a stationary vehicle. Within moments of the crash, the Santro flipped onto its right side.

The video also revealed bystanders rushing to aid the victims of the car accident. Additionally, a man can be seen lifting a child who was on one of the bikes, while the woman riding pillion required assistance to stand up.

Authorities have stated that they are currently investigating the incident. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed, as per an NDTV report.
