Twitch to Enhance Revenue Splits with Exclusive Criteria

An Exciting Development: Twitch Increases Revenue Split with Streamers

Keeping up with the happenings on Twitch can be a daunting task. The streaming platform has been taking steps to eliminate hate groups, but it has also faced its fair share of controversies, particularly involving its streamers.

However, there is some positive news on the horizon. Twitch, owned by Amazon, is revamping its revenue split program and returning to the popular 70/30 divide. This new initiative, known as “Partner Plus,” is sure to make streamers happy. But before we jump for joy, there are a few conditions to consider.

In a recent blog post from Twitch, it is stated that streamers will enjoy a larger portion of the streaming revenue if they maintain a minimum of 350 paid subscriptions for three consecutive months. This means that the number of subscriptions cannot drop below 350 during that period. To clarify any confusion, PC Gamer reports that only monthly and gifted subscriptions will count towards this requirement, and Amazon Prime subscriptions will not be included.

Delving deeper, Twitch also reveals that Partner Plus will cap the 70/30 split at $100,000 US over a span of 12 months. Once streamers meet these conditions, they will automatically be enrolled in the program, which will take effect from October 1, 2023. It’s important to note that even if a streamer’s subscription count falls below 350 during the 12-month period, they will still be eligible for the revenue split.

Historically, Twitch has faced challenges in satisfying streamers, particularly concerning financial matters. The fact that earning too much may disqualify streamers from the Partner Plus scheme may be viewed as a mixed blessing. Some well-known figures on the platform may find themselves excluded, but for the majority, this represents an opportunity to earn a greater share of the revenue. Of course, they must meet all the requirements.
