AMD has made a surprising announcement regarding their AM4 platform, introducing the new Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor. This six-core, 12-thread processor showcases the company’s innovative 3D V-Cache technology. Despite its advanced features, AMD plans to offer the CPU at an affordable price of $229. However, there is a catch: the processor will only be available through the US retailer Micro Center. Unfortunately, Micro Center primarily caters to in-store shoppers and doesn’t ship most of its products online. Furthermore, the availability of the 5600X3D will be limited, as sales will cease once Micro Center runs out of supplies.
This is unfortunate because the 5600X3D could be an excellent upgrade option for individuals looking to prolong the lifespan of their AM4 motherboard while enhancing gaming performance. Similar to its predecessor, the processor sacrifices clock speed and power consumption in exchange for a remarkable 96MB L3 cache. This combination of features in the 5800X3D results in a processor that may be slower in certain tasks but excels in gaming. The expanded L3 cache effectively reduces bottlenecking in games, allowing users to maximize their GPU’s performance. Additionally, the AM4 compatibility of the processor eliminates the need for purchasing DDR5 RAM, which can save users money on a new build.
The 5600X3D will be available for purchase on July 7th.
