Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s remarkable economic scale and market potential as key factors contributing to the success of startups in the global startup ecosystem. Speaking at the “Startup20 Shikhar” event in Gurugram, Goyal stated, “To address global challenges, there must be a global effort to nurture inclusive, supportive, and sustainable startup ecosystems in all parts of the world.”

Goyal emphasized that it is not solely the responsibility of individual nations to support innovation and the startup ecosystem; rather, it is the collective responsibility of all countries.

The minister stressed the significance of G20 discussions on startups and called for collaborations in research and development, as well as facilitating the exchange of ideas, best practices, and funding mechanisms.

India, according to Goyal, is proud to participate in Startup20 alongside partner nations and remains committed to sharing experiences and collaborating to foster the next generation of job creators.

Goyal highlighted India’s distinct startup culture and significant market potential as advantageous factors for startups.

The minister also mentioned that India, despite being a relatively new player in the startup ecosystem, has proactively become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem.

According to Goyal, India’s goals go beyond this achievement and aim to promote entrepreneurship among people of all ages, not just the youth.

Goyal stated that India’s 100,000 registered startups, including over 100 unicorns, have not only fostered innovation but also generated employment opportunities and made significant contributions to various industries such as agriculture, finance, and healthcare.

Goyal emphasized that Gurugram, an economic powerhouse in Haryana, exemplifies India’s dynamic startup ecosystem with over 100 Fortune 500 companies, leading technology firms, and numerous startups.
