Pokémon TCG Japan introduces new merchandise for Pokémon Card 151, including a stylish display frame inspired by the Kanto region.
Pokémon TCG Japan has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming expansion set, Pokémon Card 151, which is based on the original 151 Pokémon from the Kanto region. A noteworthy feature of this set is the reintroduction of a new Kadabra card after 21 years. Kadabra was absent from the Pokémon TCG due to a legal dispute with magician Uri Geller over its design, which was allegedly inspired by Geller’s spoon-bending technique. However, Geller recently withdrew his complaint, apologizing to Pokémon fans for the restrictions placed on Kadabra. Apart from Kadabra’s return, this expansion set is distinctive because it follows the Pokédex order, unlike other sets that prioritize type. It was released in Japan on June 16th and will serve as the first special set of the Scarlet & Violet era for English-language collectors, known as Scarlet & Violet – 151. Now, let’s explore another exciting merchandise item from the Pokémon Card 151 collection.
In addition to the Erika and Giovanni sleeves and deck boxes showcased earlier this week, we now have a stunning Kanto-themed display frame. This black and gold frame showcases the Generation One Starters: Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise. The frame can hold three cards and is demonstrated here with Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, and Blastoise ex. It is also perfect for displaying the Starter evolution lines of Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares, which depict the evolutionary journey of each Kanto Starter.
Japanese sets often provide insights into what to expect from the English-language sets, so keep an eye on our coverage. Stay tuned for previews of Scarlet & Violet cards and updates on everything related to Pokémon TCG right here at Bleeding Cool.
