About Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer is a movie that revolves around scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy, and General Leslie Groves Jr., portrayed by Matt Damon. Set during World War II, the film follows their mission to assemble a team of scientists and beat the Nazis in harnessing the destructive power of nuclear energy.

The biopic is set in a crucial period when Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb,” was aware that testing the atomic bomb could potentially destroy the world, but he still went ahead with it. The film features a star-studded cast, including Emily Blunt as biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, Florence Pugh as psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie as theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano as Robert Serber, and Josh Hartnett as nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence. Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, and Matthew Modine also have roles in the film. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the movie is based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
