Behold the official trailer for Lazarus, the highly anticipated new anime series from Adult Swim and renowned director Shinichirō Watanabe (known for Cowboy Bebop).
During the Adult Swim Festival at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2023, exciting news emerged about the upcoming original anime series Lazarus, produced by Adult Swim in collaboration with director Shinichirō Watanabe (known for his work on Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Kids on the Slope). Animated by MAPPA studio and featuring action sequences by Chad Stahelski (known for the “John Wick” film franchise), Lazarus is a thrilling sci-fi action series. The year is 2052 – an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity prevails across the globe. The reason for this: mankind has been freed from sickness and pain. Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has developed Hapuna, a miraculous drug with no apparent drawbacks. Hapuna quickly becomes essential and widespread. However, just after its introduction, Dr. Skinner mysteriously disappears.
Three years later, the world has moved on, but Dr. Skinner returns as a bearer of doom. He reveals that Hapuna has a short half-life, meaning everyone who has taken it will die in approximately three years. Death looms over this once-peaceful world, approaching rapidly.
In response to this threat, Lazarus, a special task force of five agents from different corners of the world, is assembled to save humanity from Skinner’s plan. Can they find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out?
