Blizzard Confirms Details of Diablo IV Open Beta Starting in March

Diablo IV is preparing to host a pair of beta testing sessions in the upcoming month. According to Blizzard, players who have pre-ordered the game will have early access from March 17 to March 19. This will allow them to delve deeper into the early stages of the game, including the Prologue and Act 1. The following week, from March 24 to March 26, the open beta period will commence, giving all players the opportunity to experience the power of the Burning Hells. However, leveling will be limited to a cap of 25. The highly anticipated Diablo IV is scheduled to be released on June 6 for PC and consoles and will also introduce a battle pass system that focuses on cosmetic items.

Both beta periods will provide players with a preview of the Diablo IV campaign. They will have the chance to explore the frigid landscapes of the Fractured Peaks and confront numerous demons lurking in the darkness. Blizzard has not specified the length of time it will take to complete this region, but they have assured players that the entire content of Act 1 will be available. Since this is a beta version, minor performance issues and outages should be expected. All feedback collected during the open beta periods will be carefully evaluated to make final adjustments before the official game launch. During IGN’s Fan Fest event, Blizzard also unveiled a cinematic that offered a glimpse into the isolated, icy wilderness. The cinematic showcased a weary traveler stumbling upon a mysterious and bloodthirsty adversary. It is important to note that any progress made during the beta will not carry over to the full version of the game.

IGN has reported that any custom character created by players will be featured in multiple cinematics with an exact likeness, reflecting the cosmetics and appearance selected in the character creator screen. As previously mentioned, Diablo IV includes a battle pass system that offers a wide range of clothing choices, tattoos, weapons, hairstyles, and emotes. The battle pass is divided into two parts: Free and Premium. The Free version is accessible to all players and provides gameplay boosts based on completed challenges. The Premium version costs $10 (approximately Rs. 827) worth of in-game currency and is solely focused on aesthetics. However, it has not been revealed whether gameplay-unlocked currency can be used to purchase additional versions of the battle pass.

Players will be able to unlock these items within three months of their initial appearance on the battle pass before Diablo IV begins a new season. This follows the common industry practice of running each season for a three-month period. The latest installment in the Diablo franchise introduces a new Necromancer class, which allows players to summon and command corpses to carry out sinister deeds in the game’s vast, semi-open world. They will also confront formidable demons such as Lilith, the Queen of the Succubi.

Diablo IV will be released on June 6 for PC (via Battle.net), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. The beta will be accessible on all platforms.
