Activision has officially announced that Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone will be launching on August 2. The roadmap for the season reveals exciting updates for multiplayer, including new maps and modes. Warzone will also receive new vehicles, equipment, and will host an in-game reveal event for Call of Duty 2023.
The theme for Season 5 is centered around Shadow Company and their former leader, Phillip Graves. As with previous seasons, players will have the option to level up through a new battle pass, which includes free, premium, and extra-premium Blackcell options.
Six new operators will be introduced in this final season, including Graves, Oz, and Mila. Graves will be available in the premium battle pass, while the others will be offered as shop bundles. Additionally, hip hop artists such as Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage will have their own operator bundles throughout the season.
The season will introduce six new weapons, including the FR Avancer assault rifle and the Carrack .300 sniper rifle in the free tiers of the battle pass. The M13C assault rifle, a new submachine gun, pistol, and melee weapon will be added later through in-game challenges.
Warzone will see the addition of two new vehicles, the MRAP armored vehicle and dirt bikes. The season will also feature new missions, field upgrades, and an in-game reveal event for Call of Duty 2023.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 will bring new multiplayer maps, including Punta Mar, a new map set in an evacuated tourist attraction, and the return of Strike, a remastered map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Two Gunfight maps, Lounge and Canal, will also be added at launch. Later in the season, DRC – Zone 1, a core map based on a portion of the Building 21 excursion zone in DMZ, will be introduced.
New game modes will be added, including the roguelike game mode, Havoc, which combines classic arena-shooter gameplay with random frenzy-inducing modifiers. Other game modes include variants of Gunfight and a large-scale 20v20 Capture the Flag mode.
