Activision Blizzard has officially announced that the next iteration of the immensely popular Call of Duty franchise, widely speculated to be Modern Warfare 3, will be unveiled through an exclusive “limited-time event” within the hit battle royale game, Warzone.
Just yesterday (July 27), Activision Blizzard published a detailed blog post outlining the exciting new contents of the upcoming Season 5 of Warzone, scheduled for release on August 2.
Within this blog post, it was revealed that Graves, the primary antagonist from Modern Warfare 2 who was thought to be deceased after the game’s climactic finale, is in fact still alive. Not only that, but Graves will be reintroduced as a playable operator in Warzone, leading the mercenary group known as Shadow Company, who appear to have a significant role in the next major installment of the Call of Duty series.
“Join the ranks of Shadow Company to participate in the global reveal of Call of Duty 2023, exclusively within Call of Duty: Warzone during this limited-time event,” states the blog post. “Assist Shadow Company in combating the Konni forces and neutralizing the impending threat of chemical weapons before it’s too late.”
While Activision has not yet confirmed the official title of the upcoming game, various leaks and sources strongly suggest that it will indeed be Modern Warfare 3. For instance, promotional materials for Monster Energy feature a fresh design and branding for the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 3, along with exciting in-game rewards for players.
Despite the absence of gameplay footage thus far, a few lucky NBA players have already had the chance to preview the forthcoming shooter at an exclusive event.
Moreover, in addition to the highly awaited release of Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty enthusiasts can also look forward to a jam-packed August, as Modern Warfare itself is receiving four new maps, complete with three additional game modes, as part of the exciting Season 5 update.
Regarding Warzone, this immensely popular battle royale game will introduce new operators and vehicles for players to enjoy, while the enigmatic Konni group will effectively take control over certain areas within the Al Mazrah setting, promising gripping confrontations.
