In 2003, Rakesh Roshan directed the film “Koi Mil Gaya” starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. This movie was one of the first sci-fi films to introduce aliens. Now, as the film celebrates its 20th anniversary, the makers have decided to re-release it in theaters.
“Koi Mil Gaya” tells the story of Rohit, a young man with developmental disabilities, who discovers an alien named Jadoo using his late father’s invention. As his friendship with Jadoo grows, Rohit gains extraordinary abilities.
Before the re-release of “Koi Mil Gaya,” director Rakesh Roshan reflected on how Hrithik Roshan was initially dismissed as a one-film wonder, despite the success of his previous film “Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.”
Rakesh Roshan also mentioned that Hrithik had dedicated himself to proving his talent by playing the role of Rohit. When asked about the excitement surrounding the re-release, Rakesh Roshan said, “Introducing a sci-fi film with an alien was a risk as a filmmaker, but the audience’s response was my greatest reward. It was fulfilling and strengthened my belief as a filmmaker to continue making films of different genres and storylines, and to keep experimenting.”
The re-release of “Koi Mil Gaya” is scheduled for August 4, 2023.
