iPhone 11 Pro vs 15 Pro and Note10+ vs S23 Ultra images indicate one company is sleeping on design

When it comes to desirable features in a new smartphone model, bezels aren’t typically at the top of most people’s lists. However, since advancements in related technologies like under-display sensors have been limited, smartphone makers currently have limited options and are exploring other form factors.

Apple has long been envisioning an all-screen slab phone, and while it may take years before such an iPhone is released, the company is making other refinements, such as reducing bezels for the iPhone 15 Pro.
3D artist Ian Zelbo has created renders that showcase the evolution of iPhone screen design. While the annual differences may not be significant, the change from the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019 to the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro, assuming the leaks are accurate, is quite striking.

The iPhone 11 Pro has thick bezels, according to today’s standards, along with a notch that occupies a substantial portion of the top of the screen.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro has eliminated the notch and replaced it with a pill-shaped cutout known as the Dynamic Island. Combined with the slimmer bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro, this gives the new model a much more futuristic appearance compared to the iPhone 11 Pro.

The only downside is that with reduced bezels, the Dynamic Island, although smaller than the notch, appears more prominent. This is because its size remains the same as the previous year. We may have to wait until at least 2026 to see an iPhone without any type of cutout.

Returning to the iPhone 15 Pro, while thinner bezels and the Dynamic Island may not be groundbreaking design changes, Apple has made more progress in front design compared to Samsung’s high-end phones, as pointed out by insider Ice Universe.

When comparing the 2019 Note 10 Plus and the Galaxy S23 Ultra side by side, it’s clear that the front design hasn’t changed significantly. However, Samsung has introduced various other improvements including better screens, high-resolution cameras, and an impressive zooming range. Additionally, the design of the iPhone’s back has remained unchanged for a long time.
