In the year 2023, it seems like we haven’t been blessed with many great horror shows. However, Apple’s upcoming series might just change that.
Today, Apple TV+ unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming horror/drama series, The Changeling. The series, created and adapted by showrunner and executive producer Kelly Marcel, features Academy Award nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Get Out) in a leading role.

What is The Changeling about?
The Changeling is a unique blend of horror, parenthood fable, and perilous odyssey, as per its synopsis.
Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling book by Victor LaValle, “The Changeling” tells a mature fairy tale. It is a horror story, a journey through parenthood, and an exploration of an unseen New York City. Alongside Stanfield, the series stars Clark Backo, Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, Jared Abrahamson, and a special guest appearance by Malcolm Barrett.
Produced by Apple Studios and Annapurna, the series is executive produced by Megan Ellison, Patrick Chu, Ali Krug, Kelly Marcel, Victor LaValle, David Knoller, and director Jonathan van Tulleken. LaKeith Stanfield serves as both an executive producer and star. Melina Matsoukas, from De La Revolución Films, also serves as an executive producer. Sue Naegle and David Wolkis are executive producers, while Khaliah Neal is the co-executive producer.
Having watched the trailer, I’m incredibly excited for this show. LaKeith Stanfield already proved his talent in Get Out, and the addition of Clark Backo, who impressed me in the underrated comedy series Letterkenny, makes it even more promising. This is definitely going on my watchlist.
The Changeling will premiere on Apple TV Plus on Friday, September 8th, with the first three episodes. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly on Fridays until the final episode on October 13th.
