Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, a highly successful family show in the history of Indian television, is once again in the spotlight. Recently, Shailesh Lodha, who portrayed the character of Taarak Mehta, emerged victorious in a case against the show’s creator and producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, for unpaid dues. It was reported that the actor won the legal battle, and Asit Kumarr has been instructed to settle the dues of Rs 1 crore through a demand draft. Asit has now come forward to address the news and has accused the actor of making false claims.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Asit Kumarr Modi stated that Shailesh Lodha’s claims of winning the case were false. “Shailesh Lodha’s statement that he won the case is a misrepresentation. The court order clearly states that the matter was resolved with consent. We fail to understand his intentions behind spreading false information. We would appreciate it if he puts this matter to rest and stops distorting the facts,” he said.
Asit also mentioned that there is a standard procedure to be followed when any actor departs from the show, which Shailesh refused to adhere to. “We never denied or disputed the payment. We tried to communicate with Mr. Lodha for a meeting to address any concerns regarding the terms in the exit letter. Despite our relentless efforts, Mr. Lodha opted to approach the NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) to demand his unpaid dues,” he added.

Regarding his experience working with Shailesh, the show’s producer expressed that he had always supported him both professionally and personally in his early days. “On the professional front, he was always paid on time throughout the years. We never received any complaints during his tenure, so we were surprised and saddened by his behavior upon his exit. We had no intention of withholding his dues, but like any corporate entity, certain exit formalities need to be completed,” he further stated.
