Canadian woman pleads for Amazon to stop unwanted deliveries

Anca Nitu, a resident of Langley, British Columbia, has been receiving daily Amazon packages for the past two months. However, she has not placed any orders for these items. The packages, which often contain ornate shoes that do not match her style, are being sent to her from various locations across North America.

Nitu has expressed her distress about the continuous arrival of these packages. She told CBC, “I start shaking when I see packages at my door. They keep coming and it just doesn’t end.” Adding to her frustration, shipping company UPS has been sending her invoices for customs charges, despite Nitu’s insistence that she did not order the items and refusal to pay.

The Better Business Bureau suggests that sellers or third-party handlers may be using Nitu’s address to avoid shipping and warehouse fees by offloading their unwanted products. This practice has been observed before and is often conducted by businesses from countries like China and India.

When third-party sellers utilize Amazon facilities, they are responsible for expenses such as order processing, shipping, and handling, as well as product returns. In some cases, a seller may include a return slip with a private address in case the customer wishes to return the order. By using a private address, the seller can avoid Amazon fees for processing the returned item or save on overseas shipping costs. It appears that Nitu has been unfortunate in having her address selected for these returns.

Amazon has stated that Nitu’s case has been addressed and corrective action is being taken to cease the package deliveries. However, Nitu claims that the situation has yet to be resolved.

In order to free up storage space in her home, Nitu has started donating the unwanted shoes to charity stores and giving them to her colleagues. However, her ultimate wish is for the deliveries to simply stop.

If you receive a package or item that you did not order, Amazon advises reporting it online using their Report Unwanted Package form.
