Telltale Games acquires ‘Erica’ developer to build “best-in-class narrative games”

Telltale Games has acquired Flavourworks, the developer behind the popular games Erica and Cuttlefish, in order to collaborate on creating top-notch narrative games. The CEO of Telltale Games, Jamie Ottilie, stated in a press release that fans today crave deeper interaction with their favorite IPs, and interactive narratives provide an immersive way to fulfill that desire. Ottilie also emphasized the importance of accessibility, stating that people want to be able to access their games from any device or platform.

Telltale Games will leverage Flavourworks’ technology to enhance the emotional impact of their stories and elevate the level of interactivity in their games. Ottilie expressed excitement about the potential of this partnership, stating that Flavourworks’ expertise in interactive video will enable them to efficiently create story-based games and reach a wider audience through streaming and new platforms.

Flavourworks is currently developing a family-friendly interactive heist game called Cuttlefish. This game utilizes Flavourworks’ patented TouchVideo technology, allowing players to interact with live-action scenes by touching their phone screens. Every decision in the game is guided by the player’s touch.

Sir Ian Livingstone (CBE) of Hiro Capital, an investment company supporting both Telltale Games and Flavourworks, applauds the collaboration between the two companies. Livingstone looks forward to seeing the innovative gameplay that will come out of this partnership and believes it will contribute to the creation of top-tier narrative games.

In other gaming news, players of Call of Duty will be able to carry forward the majority of their Modern Warfare 2 items into Modern Warfare 3, which is set to launch in November.
