Forza Motorsport Won’t Have Split-Screen and Two Other Features at Launch

Turn 10 has officially confirmed that Forza Motorsport, the highly anticipated racing game, will not include certain features upon its launch. One of the notable omissions is the split-screen functionality.

In a recent episode of the Forza Monthly broadcast, creative director Chris Esaki explained that the game will not support split-screen, spectator mode, or the ability to race against AI in certain multiplayer modes. According to Esaki, these features do not align with the intended racing experience of the game.

Esaki clarified that the decision to exclude split-screen was driven by the need for a major overhaul of the game’s rendering engine to deliver the desired graphics. As a result, integrating split-screen functionality became challenging and will not be available at launch.

Although these legacy features will be absent, Forza Motorsport will offer a variety of accessibility options. Turn 10 also plans to present Forza Motorsport at Gamescom 2023, but the game will not be playable at the event.

Mark your calendars for the game’s release on October 10, which will be available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, it will be included in the Xbox Game Pass on the same day as its release.

This decision echoes the approach taken by 343 Industries with the launch of Halo Infinite, where campaign co-op and Forge mode were initially excluded. It is important to support developers in their quest to deliver fully polished and feature-rich games at the right time.
