Cinema enthusiasts are eagerly waiting as three highly anticipated films from renowned banners release in theaters this week. Rajnikanth’s “Jailer” premiered on August 10, while “Gadar 2” starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, and “OMG 2” featuring Akshay Kumar clashed at the box office on August 11.
“Gadar 2” is the sequel to the critically acclaimed “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” and stars Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, and Manish Wadhwa in pivotal roles. The film’s plot revolves around Tara Singh and Sakeena. As their lives move forward, Tara Singh goes missing during the Crush India campaign in 1971. His family believes he is imprisoned in Pakistan, leading his son Charanjeet to embark on a mission to rescue him. Charanjeet, also known as Jeetey, fails to find his father in Pakistan and endures torture by Pakistani soldiers. The story progresses as Charanjeet finds love in Muskaan and his father eventually brings him back to India.
“OMG 2” serves as the sequel to the hit film “Omg: Oh My God!” and features Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam in lead roles. The movie depicts the life of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, whose personal life takes a dramatic turn when his son is accused of misconduct at school. Amidst a series of unfortunate events, Kanti seeks Lord Shiva’s blessings and experiences divine intervention. The story further unfolds with a gripping courtroom drama, where Sanjana Tripathi stands against Kanti.
“Jailer,” starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson, tells the story of a strict jailer determined to prevent the escape of a powerful prisoner. This action-packed thriller also features Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Sunil, and Vasanth Ravi. “Jailer” broke records and emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.
India TV recently conducted a poll to gauge the movie preferences of its audience for the weekend. The poll received over 1,400 votes from users on Twitter and our website. “Gadar 2” secured the highest number of votes with 54%, while “OMG 2” received 12.3% and “Jailer” garnered 9.6%. Furthermore, 24.1% of participants chose the “None of these” option.
