Apple iPhone 15 Plus leaks: Device could feature 3LD3 chip, likely to affect battery

Apple is preparing for the launch of its highly anticipated iPhone 15 series, expected on September 12 this year. Leaked renders of the iPhone 15 Plus have surfaced, revealing internal charging components that include a custom-designed Apple 3LD3 chip.

Renowned leaker Majin Bu has shared leaked images on X, offering a sneak peek at the charging components inside the upcoming iPhone 15 Plus. These images reveal the presence of the Apple 3LD3 chip, which is speculated to enhance data transmission encryption and potentially improve charging speeds.

In March, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the iPhone 15 series would feature a USB Type-C port, allowing for fast charging with certified cables. Kuo also mentioned that Apple plans to optimize the charging capabilities of the MFi (Made for iPhone) endorsed charger for the iPhone 15. It is possible that the 3LD3 chip will play a role in distinguishing between Apple-certified cables and other compatible adapters, ensuring efficient charging and data transfers when using an MFi USB Type-C cable.

Furthermore, Apple is reportedly preparing for a major overhaul of its iconic Apple Watch, potentially launching the “Apple Watch X” in either 2024 or 2025 to mark the device’s 10-year anniversary. This new iteration of the Apple Watch is expected to introduce significant design changes, including a streamlined design and a new magnetic mechanism for attaching watch bands. These changes aim to maximize internal space for improvements such as larger batteries.

Technology analyst Mark Gurman suggests that the Apple Watch X will be a game-changing release for the category. In his PowerOn newsletter, Gurman writes, “Apple is planning a ‘Watch X’ model to mark the device’s 10-year anniversary, and it promises to be the biggest overhaul yet.” Gurman expects the new Apple Watch to revolutionize the market when it becomes available in 2024 or 2025.
