Dhanteras 2023: Know Significance Of Kuber Puja; Chant This Mantra To Seek Financial Gains

As per the Vedic calendar, Dhanteras falls on the Tryodashi tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Karthik. There’s a story behind how Kuber came into existence. A devoted boy named Gunanidhi set out in search of his father. Tired and hungry, he entered a temple on Shivratri and ate the prasad to feed his empty stomach. Unfortunately, his actions provoked an angry priest, who fatally shot him with an arrow.

Yama’s messengers came for Gunanidhi, but Lord Shiva’s devotees saved him and took him to Lord Shiva. Impressed by Gunanidhi’s unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva blessed him with wealth in his next life. Gunanidhi was reborn as the celebrated Dhanpati Kuber, known for his immense riches.
