The markets opened to record highs a day after the Narendra Modi-led BJP registered emphatic victories in the Hindi heartland states of MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The Nifty is trading at 20,570 points, up over 300 points while the Sensex is trading at 68,472.70 points, up 1,000 points.

Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan following the party’s defeat in the elections. Gehlot arrived at the Raj Bhavan in Jaipur and handed over his resignation to Governor Kalraj Mishra.

The BJP, which was ousted from power in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in the 2018 elections, has received a big shot in the arm ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The party is set to form a government on its own in all three states of the Hindi heartland.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address BJP workers at the party’s headquarters in Delhi on Sunday evening, party sources said. The address is likely to come on the back of poll trends suggesting that the BJP will form a government on its own in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

The Bharatiya Janata Party fielded three central ministers in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. The strategic choice, so far, appears to have yielded mixed results. Narendra Singh Tomar is trailing in Dimani while Prahlad Patel and Kailash Vijaywargia are leading from the Narsingpur and Indore-1 constituencies, repsectively.

Congress leader and the party’s chief ministerial candidate is leading from Chhindwara by a margin of 15,623 votes after the ninth round of counting. He has garnered a total of 57895 votes so far.

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said that the trends so far suggest a clear wave of support for the BJP in the state and exuded confidence of the party forming governments in MP and Rajasthan as well.

The Congress party has called a meeting of Opposition leaders of the INDIA bloc in Delhi on December 6 to chalk out strategy after the Assembly poll results, PTI reported citing sources.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leading from his traditional Budhni seat. Chouhan is leading against his nearest rival by a margin of 21,197 votes.

The BJP appears to have made significant gains in the elections in the three Hindi-heartland states. The party, which fought the elections with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its face in all three states. The party seems to have reversed its losses in 2018 polls and is comfortably leading in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is ahead in 109 of the 199 seats while the Congress is leading in 74 seats, trends show. As per official EC data, the BJP is leading in 100 seats, reaching the majority mark. The Congress, on the other hand, is leading in 78 seats while Others are leading in 14 seats.

The BJP is currently leading in 56 seats in Chhattisgarh, while the Congress is ahead in 33 and Others in 1. As per the Election Commission of India data, the BJP is ahead in 41 seats and the Congress in 35.

The BJP is leading in 18 seats in Chhattisgarh while Congress is ahead in 16. In MP, BJP leads Congress 85:36 while Rajasthan trends show BJP ahead in 96 and Congress in 67. The Congress is ahead in 34 seats while the BRS leads in 21 seats in Telangana.

The Congress may be staring at the biggest upset in these elections with the BJP taking a lead in Chhattisgarh. As per current trends, the BJP is leading in 48 seats and the Congress is ahead in 40 seats in the 90-member Assembly.

In what could turn out to be the biggest upset this election, the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a lead in Chhattisgarh against the Congress. The BJP is leading in 47 of the 90 seats while the Congress is ahead in 41.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has crossed the halfway mark in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The party is leading in 135 of 230 seats in MP and 103 of 199 seats in Rajasthan. The Congress, on the other hand, is leading in 88 seats and 84 seats, in MP and Rajasthan, respectively.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has crossed the 100-mark in Madhya Pradesh. The party is leading in 109 seats in MP and 107 seats in Rajasthan. The Congress, on the other hand, is leading in 90 seats and 80 seats in MP and Rajasthan, respectively.

Former Chief Minister Raman Singh is leading from the Rajnandgaon constituency against Girish Dewangan of the Congress. Raman Singh has won this seat for three consecutive terms.

It is past 8.30 AM and the counting of EVM votes has now begun. The trends so far were based on postal ballots and the EVM votes will be counted now.

Early trends show the BJP ahead in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP is ahead in 67 seats while Congress is leading in 46 seats.

The BJP and the Congress are locked in a tight battle, early trends show. The BJP is ahead in 48 seats and the Congress in 39 seats.

The Congress has taken an early lead in the first trends of the counting of postal ballots in Telangana. The Congress leads in 27 seats while the BRS is ahead in 17 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has gained a lead against the Congress in MP. It is ahead on 26 seats while Congress leads in 19. These are very early trends and the counting of EVM votes will begin at 8.30 AM.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has gained a lead in postal ballots. The first trends show the BJP leading in 17 seats while the Congress is ahead in 12.

The first trends for the election results are out in Rajasthan, Telangana, MP and Chhattisgarh. The BJP is leading 9-6 to Congress in MP, 5-3 in Rajasthan while the Congress leads BJP 8-4 in Chhattisgarh and is ahead of BRS 17-10 in Telangana.

The counting of votes has begun in four states that went to polls. The first trends are set to start trickling in shortly.

The Congress has aggressively pushed its proposal to hold a caste census in states where it comes to power, sparking rumours of a potential revamp of the existing reservation structure. The election results will be a test of whether the gambit has paid off.

Before counting of votes begins in Telangana, posters outside the TPCC office have already claimed victory and said that celebrations are on the way. Exit polls have predicted that the Congress could come to power in the state.

The K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti faces its first big electoral test since coming to power for the first time in 2014. The BRS, earlier known as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, has been in power in the state ever since the state was formed over a decade ago. This time, it faces an uphill task with the Congress breathing down its neck and exit polls giving the Congress an edge in the state.

The Congress is banking on its election promises and the largely lackluster campaign of the BJP in the run-up to the elections to retain power in the state. Exit polls, which have been divided on the outcome in other states, have given Congress a clear advantage in Chhattisgarh.

The election results to the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly will be declared today. The intense contest between the Congress and BJP added another dimension with uncertainty around the saffron party’s chief ministerial face. The party has not declared any CM face in the run-up to the elections and fielded several union ministers from key seats in the state.

The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party are locked in a bipolar contest in the 199 seats. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is seeking a second straight term in office while the BJP is hoping that the state will continue its ‘revolving-door’ trend of choosing alternate governments to power.

The counting of votes for the Assembly election in four states will begin at 8 AM. The counting shall begin with the tabulation of postal ballots. Counting of EVM votes will begin at 8.30 AM, poll officials said.
