Slow and steady can almost win the race? Dunki, superstar Shah Rukh Khan‘s maiden collaboration with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, saw much-needed growth on its third day of release, as the film netted an estimated Rs 26 cr on Saturday, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The Saturday collections of Dunki witnessed a 30 percent jump from its second day (Friday) figures, which was crucial for the social comedy drama. The film had to come close to its Thursday opening day numbers of Rs 29 cr–if not surpass it–to maintain a stable pace at the box office.

The film has so far earned Rs 75.32 cr in three days and will hit the Rs 100 cr club India nett on Sunday. On the worldwide front, Dunki is likely to be near the Rs 150 cr mark. But with daily collections still under Rs 30 cr, the film is now unlikely to put up big numbers of Rs 350 cr plus at the box office anymore, according to trade estimates. The numbers are also significantly lower than those delivered by SRK’s two previous 2023 hits – Jawan and Pathaan. Both those films ended up grossing more than Rs 1000 crore worldwide.
The Sunday and Monday (Christmas) collections will give a fair idea about its lifetime, along with the next crucial hold– the Tuesday figures. Dunki, which released only in Hindi, has put up the decent total despite clash with Prabhas’ actioner Salaar and mixed word of mouth. For context context, Salaar made Rs 95 crore across India on day one, and Rs 55 crore on day two.
The chances of Dunki out-performing Hirani’s last film, Sanju, look slim at this stage. Sanju had netted more than Rs 120 cr in its first three days and ended its lifetime at a whopping Rs 342 cr. Dunki will most probably chase the Rs 300 cr club mark at this stage. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani and features Vicky Kaushal in a special appearance.
